- How do you build self-service Azure resources for internal stakeholders?by /u/Kind_Natural6873 (Microsoft Azure) on March 28, 2024 at 2:43 pm
Hey Azure Fam, I'm looking to build a self-service portal for internal teams (technical and non-tech) to spin up Azure VMs on-demand. This would empower them to handle smaller compute needs without overwhelming our devOps team. Anyone out there have experience setting up self-service Azure instances? Here's what I'm thinking: Resource quotas and pre-configured VM images: Setting spending limits and offering pre-built VM options for common tasks (e.g., dev environments, data analysis workstations). Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates: Providing pre-defined templates for quick VM deployment with minimal configuration needed. RBAC for secure access control: Granular control over who can provision VMs and what resources they can access. What's your experience with self-service Azure instances? Any advice on best practices, tools, or potential pitfalls? Looking forward to your insights! Thanks! submitted by /u/Kind_Natural6873 [link] [comments]

- Is DP-203 90% about Synapse?by /u/Emotional_Key (Microsoft Azure Certifications) on March 28, 2024 at 2:22 pm
Started the self learning path from Microsoft and so far they are just shoving synapse down my throat with every lesson. I’m not planning to have a cert that showcases that I have experience with Synapse, as I don’t and I’m not planning to learn it. I’m more interested in all the things Synapse is wrapping together like ADF, SQL Db, Cosmos, Lakehouse, Notebooks with Databricks and so on. Do you think it is relevant to continue looking into DP-203 or should I look into something else? I have about a year of experience with the Azure ecosystem and planning to move towards Databricks in the near future, but I usually wait to have at least 6 months of hands on experience with that technology before I’m looking into certifications so the Databricks cert is not yet on my radar. submitted by /u/Emotional_Key [link] [comments]
- Azure Update managementby /u/jithinpsk (Microsoft Azure) on March 28, 2024 at 2:11 pm
We are currently working on implementing Azure Update Management for Arc enabled on-prem servers. One suggestion from the team is to explore the possibility of creating an email alert when updates finished install or when the VM reboots after an update. Has anyone attempted this before? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/jithinpsk [link] [comments]
- Alternative to Sync devices into AAD/Intuneby /u/musafir05 (Microsoft Azure) on March 28, 2024 at 2:02 pm
Hello, I have a question if there is an alternative way to sync device from Active Directory to Entra ID and intune enroll if we are using Microsoft Cloud Sync. I can’t migrate to Azure AD Connect because we have another company using Azure AD Connect to sync users/computers to our Entra ID tenant. Based on research you cannot have multiple Azure AD Connect syncing users/devices into Entra. Any help would be appreciated. submitted by /u/musafir05 [link] [comments]

- Get-AZRoleAssignment not showing Groups?by /u/Dracolis (Microsoft Azure) on March 28, 2024 at 1:41 pm
Hello I'm trying to get an export of all of my management groups, and then check the role assignments for each one. However, when I run this: Get-AzRoleAssignment -ResourceGroupName $mgmtGroup.Name It returns all objects (service principals, users), but does not groups for some reason. See below. This is the PS output for Owners using this command: Get-AzRoleAssignment -ResourceGroupName $mgmtGroup.Name -IncludeClassicAdministrators |Select RoleDefinitionName,ObjectType,DisplayName,SignInName PS Output But there is clearly a group there: Portal This is really driving me nuts. Anyone see anything like this before? submitted by /u/Dracolis [link] [comments]
- Get rid off Authenticator App setup messageby /u/m0kka21 (Microsoft Azure) on March 28, 2024 at 1:13 pm
Hi, we recently deployed 2FA to our users and due to some of them not having a company phone nor wanting to use the authenticator app on their personal phone we purchased a bunch of yubikeys thinking this would be enough. But after a few days I got a ticket from one of our users who claimed she got a notification that she should set up the authenticator app despite having a yubikey connected to her MS365 Account. This message now pops up everytime she starts teams and is not on our company network. Does someone know how I can get rid of this message and make sure that users who have set up their yubikey can actually use it without having to download the app? Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/m0kka21 [link] [comments]
- Managed Apps and vNet rulesby /u/Blootered (Microsoft Azure) on March 28, 2024 at 12:14 pm
Hi guys, I've recently started looking in to managed apps and don't understand how to make the resource group available to add to vnet rules for a resource under another resource group. When I manually run the template, I can add vnet rules to a database server under another rg and have them communicate with each other, however when I run the same template via a managed app the new rg doesn't appear in the vNet rules dropdown. Am I doing something wrong/misunderstanding something here or is this a limitation of managed apps? Cheers submitted by /u/Blootered [link] [comments]

- Is it possible to use App Registration Client Secret while connecting using Connect-MgGraph?by /u/GoldenDew9 (Microsoft Azure) on March 28, 2024 at 11:58 am
I am trying to connect to AzureAD using pwershell (which is EntraID + MS Graph Powershell) But I keep getting error. SO I was wondering is this possible to auth/login to AzureAD ? Connect-MgGraph -TenantId "xxx" -ClientSecretCredential $Credential -Scopes 'Application.Read.All' Connect-MgGraph: Parameter set cannot be resolved using the specified named parameters. One or more parameters issued cannot be used together or an insufficient number of parameters were provided. submitted by /u/GoldenDew9 [link] [comments]
- AVD Private Link on network without internet accessby /u/thatscarpy (Microsoft Azure) on March 28, 2024 at 11:58 am
We have a restricted network that isn't allowed access to the public internet, I would like machines on this network to have a connection to our Azure Virtual Desktop environment. I believe that configuring Private Link for AVD will allow machines on the restricted network to access AVD without going over the internet. We have a site2site VPN that will allow machines on the restricted network to access the Private Endpoint IP's to gain connection. I am only concerned with the connection from client to AVD session, I don't need to use a Private Endpoint for traffic between session host itself and the AVD control pane. I'm wondering if anyone has configured Private Link for AVD in a similar environment? I'm also wondering if configuring Private Link will have any effect on our other users coming into the same AVD session hosts in the normal manner of public internet. submitted by /u/thatscarpy [link] [comments]
- Adding users file storage feature to my applicationby /u/zmari10 (Microsoft Azure) on March 28, 2024 at 11:56 am
I have an application deployed in Azure. The users are authenticated using Entra ID. I would like to give the ability to each user to upload his files and make sure he is the only one able to access them to download them later. my current idea is to have these files stored in azure blob storage and protected via RBAC. My question is: How to automate the creation of a dedicated folder to each user on demand and make sure that its protected and can be accessed only by him ? submitted by /u/zmari10 [link] [comments]
- Azure functions developing locally in IDE vs in portalby /u/Snowy32 (Microsoft Azure) on March 28, 2024 at 11:07 am
Hey Folks, So am having a go at developing an Azure Function locally for the first time in my IDE (VS Code) usually I stick to developing in the Azure portal. The function is a PowerShell based one and I seem to be seeing some issues with the local version I have just started working on. One of the first things I check for is the existence of `azcopy.exe` if that doesn't exist then I download it from our Azure storage with the aid of `Invoke-WebRequest`. When I deploy/ run the script from VS Code the Invoke-WebRequest fails (also tried it with WebClient) But if I create a function in the Azure portal directly it works absolutely fine. Is there anything I need to know about developing functions locally that I have missed? Cheers submitted by /u/Snowy32 [link] [comments]

- I have AI-900 and DP-900 now, what jobs should I try to apply for?by /u/biggitydonut (Microsoft Azure Certifications) on March 28, 2024 at 10:57 am
I really would love to break into some sort of AI, ML, Data science field. Yes I’m going to try and get the DP-100 next too. But I’d like to start searching.. my background is in economics. Got a bachelors and a masters in it. Know some SQL, SAS, Alteryx, and Python (not a lot. I’m self taught). I’m used to working with large data sets. When I look on LinkedIn and searching using DP-900 or AI-900 I don’t get much except jobs that might ask for azure sql, or azure data lake. submitted by /u/biggitydonut [link] [comments]

- Azure Virtual Desktop Windows licensing requirementsby /u/FlyingTOS (Microsoft Azure) on March 28, 2024 at 10:06 am
I am currently setting up Azure Virtual Desktop for about 50 internal users, not very experienced with Azure. I set up the a VM for AVD, whipped up a few accounts with Entra ID and tried logging in with one of the accounts from the web client, and it worked. The thing is, I hadn't set up the Windows licensing at that point yet, and it still allowed me to log in. Now I am questioning whether I need to be paying for 50 business premium licenses, when we are doing fine on prem with Apps for Business and the only reason we wanted to upgrade was to get the Windows 10/11 license for AVD. 1. Are there any technical limitations for having users use AVD without a Business Premium or other license for Windows 10/11? Is it only for a limited time? 2. How do I actually set up licenses? Does the user simply need to be using an account with the license associated with it when accessing AVD? The documentation simply says it is needed and doesn't seem to go much further than that. 3. Has anyone tried using AVD without a Windows 10/11 license long term? submitted by /u/FlyingTOS [link] [comments]
- Passed AZ-900 with a 952 score, study plan belowby /u/lidord1999 (Microsoft Azure Certifications) on March 28, 2024 at 9:53 am
Used this YouTube course from Adam Marczak - Azure for Everyone and answered all of the test questions from his website after each episode. Used WhizLabs practice tests and passed all of them with 80%+ score. Lastly, watched this 2 and a half hour exam cram by Pete Zerger and wrote notes on paper throughout the video, also took his 100 question test in his video description twice (This one helped a lot!). Just wanted to share if someone is preparing for the exam atm. Wish you guys all the luck! submitted by /u/lidord1999 [link] [comments]
