  • Adding Expiry Dates to Azure Resources
by /u/amritjha27 (Microsoft Azure) on April 26, 2024 at 5:22 pm

Hi everyone, We're facing a common challenge in our infrastructure provisioning process. We use Terraform for VMs and manual creation for resources like App Gateways, often forgetting to clean up after testing, leading to zombie resources and unnecessary costs. I'm looking for a way to add expiry dates to resources, triggering email alerts for deletion after expiration. Any suggestions or existing tools within Azure to achieve this? Your insights are highly appreciated! Thanks, submitted by /u/amritjha27 [link] [comments]

  • AVD Host pool User Logon/Logoff Report
by /u/Electrical_Arm7411 (Microsoft Azure) on April 26, 2024 at 4:25 pm

Does anyone have a step-by-step guide on how to setup monitoring for login/logoffs on AVD joined to a host pool? Heck I'd even take just a report on individual AVD hosts. I was trying to follow this Azure Monitoring Agent MS guide, but wow, this is so unintuitive to follow. Looking for a more simplistic guide or step-by-step. Manage Azure Monitor Agent - Azure Monitor | Microsoft Learn I've been using this script to monitor what I'm requesting, but surely from the Azure Portal there's a better method vs. running this on each host. $UserProperty = @{n="User";e={(New-Object System.Security.Principal.SecurityIdentifier $_.ReplacementStrings[1]).Translate([System.Security.Principal.NTAccount])}} $TypeProperty = @{n="Action";e={if($_.EventID -eq 7001) {"Logon"} else {"Logoff"}}} $TimeProeprty = @{n="Time";e={$_.TimeGenerated}} Get-Eventlog System -Source Microsoft-Windows-Winlogon | select $UserProperty,$TypeProperty,$TimeProeprty |export-csv c:\scripts\tracks.csv -notype submitted by /u/Electrical_Arm7411 [link] [comments]

  • Passed AI-102
by /u/LesPaulStudio (Microsoft Azure Certifications) on April 26, 2024 at 3:58 pm

I've had this one on the radar for a while; passed today with 811. Not bad not amazing. Exam 2 hrs total, 100 mins for exam (finished in 70 ish) opted for c# 49 questions 39 question bank 5 no return 1 case (5 questions) MS Learn First time using this. Last time out was September 2023, I think I missed the option by about a day or so! Found it really helpful. Just sent in a few key words, if it took longer than a mouse scroll to get the relevant info, I just marked for a review and moved on. After much advice in this sub, once I had opened MS Learn I didn't close it, just resized the screen when not using. Definitely a nice addition from MS At A Test Centre!!!!! First time I've taken an exam at a test center. Pleasant experience all round decent screen (both size and resolution). Staff were helpful, no rules on bathroom breaks. Tea & Coffee available beforehand. Was given pen and paper for notes. I've not given up on home-proctoring, but as work paid for this exam, I decided to go in person, rather than re-arrange the home office for all of 2 hours. Microsoft AI Challenge I completed this and got a voucher, basically on the off chance I failed. Work pay 100% for first attempts. Guess I've now got to get either DP-100 or 600 done by June 24th!! Final Thoughts I had done all the labs and MS Learn, plus decided to do all the relevant MS Applied Skills to this path as well. Despite that, there were still some sneaky ARM template and HTTP questions that caught me out. It did seem that there was more OpenAI questions than the 10-15% MS said there would be. Overall probably one of the easiest intermediate exams I've done. Score probably doesn't show that, but it never felt taxing. Maybe having MS Learn to lean on. submitted by /u/LesPaulStudio [link] [comments]

  • Realistic to expect engineers/architects to know/certify in Azure, AWS and on prem?
by /u/tadmeister69 (Microsoft Azure) on April 26, 2024 at 3:58 pm

I work as a technical architect in the UK. In my team TAs are expected to do low level designs, migration plans and lead deployments for Azure/O365, vSphere, (occasionally) Hyper-V, as well as most of the hosted tech like Windows, SQL, Storage, Active Directory, Citrix etc. We need to be pretty good at this as out sales guys pretty much always miss requirements and/or scope things that can't actually be deployed (as well as often quoting very little time) and we're expected to catch this and put it right before it hits the engineers. Our engineers are expected to deploy on all the above but not design. On Azure we're pretty much expected asked to design all aspects depending on what the client needs which luckily has only normally includes IaaS/SDN/Entra ID/ER/VPNs and more common PaaS services like SQL, but there's also increasingly things like data lakes/AZFW and other features coming in. Our network team are't cloud-savvy so we also do the Azure SDN/ERs/LB etc. The company wants us to get certs in as much of the above as they can get us as well. I've recently been asked if I can pick up AWS too. I'm interested in this but feel it's probabaly unrealistic, especially as there's no time allotted to regulary update knowledge and Azure/AWS obviously change all the time (I know AWS alone recommend 1-2 hours a day to update knowledge). What are others here expected to know and would you think this is a realistic to know all of this or not? Also are you given regular allotted time in hours to keep up to date with skills if you work on cloud tech? I'm also currently on £70k - London weighted as I'm just outside the M25, but normally work remote. What sort of salary would you think would be reasonable for a TA/SA covering the tech above (with and without AWS) as I have no idea on current salaries for cloud TAs these days? submitted by /u/tadmeister69 [link] [comments]

  • Azure Databricks - Managed storage account exemption help
by /u/mchrisl (Microsoft Azure) on April 26, 2024 at 3:37 pm

Im trying to think of a way to exempt managed azure databricks storage account from polices that prevent storage accounts without a firewall + open to all networks. I don't want to limit our teams from deploying their own but also prevent people from creating that aren't managed by databricks. Only way i can think off is to exempt all resource groups starting with something unique to databricsk + then heavily monitor all storage accounts on the tenant via a script. submitted by /u/mchrisl [link] [comments]

  • Syncing ADConnect live Instance with Staging Configuration – Need Advice!
by /u/B5rman (Microsoft Azure) on April 26, 2024 at 3:34 pm

Hello fellow Azure enthusiasts, Thanks for taking the time to read my post. I have a quick question about managing ADConnect configurations and hope someone here can help me out. When making adjustments to a running ADConnector configuration, how do you ensure that your already running ADConnect staging instance stays in sync with the live one? From what I've seen, it appears you can only import configurations during the initial installation of the ADConnector. Is there a way to sync them without having to uninstall and reinstall, importing the live configuration each time? Any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated! submitted by /u/B5rman [link] [comments]

  • Free Azure Firewall

  • Azure Student Subscription GPU usage
by /u/stavrosmachinima (Microsoft Azure) on April 26, 2024 at 2:27 pm

I try to create a VM with GPU support in order to train some models for machine learning purposes for my university. The thing is that If I try to create an image with the N-series size for GPU support, I get the " Your subscription isn't eligible for a quota increase.". Which I obviously get it, then I try to create an image like "NVIDIA GPU-Optimized VMI with vGPU driver" with other size that I am eligible for and when I do the command "lspci | grep -i NVIDIA". I don't get any devices which obviously mean I don't have the drivers. I try to install the NVIDIA GPU Driver Extension and it says "The currently selected size is not supported by this extension. Select a gpu family size." The question is if I try to create a VM with a size that is not a GPU optimized size. Can I run a GPU in there or Am I not eligible to do that ? submitted by /u/stavrosmachinima [link] [comments]

Hey Team - I am in the midst of trying to create a “mini ChatGPT” with my own data using the below workflow: https://github.com/Azure-Samples/azure-search-openai-demo However, I keep running into the issue of exceeding my OpenAI token limit when it tries to digest my data - getting the following error: InsufficientQuota: This operation require 30 new capacity in quota Tokens Per Minute (thousands) - GPT-35-Turbo, which is bigger than the current available capacity 0. The current quota usage is 240 and the quota limit is 240 for quota Tokens Per Minute (thousands) - GPT-35-Turbo. Is there a suggested work around for this? • Just passed AZ-500, now focusing on SC-100
by /u/psvase (Microsoft Azure Certifications) on April 26, 2024 at 9:58 am

I just passed AZ-500, approx. 50 multiple-choice question and 1 case study. Studied about 2 weeks, but I have some hands-on experience from Azure due my current work as security architect. I almost ran out of time, because the case study isn't included in the number of questions, so pay attention if it says in the beginning that there is a case study coming. For learning, I used MS Learn and the GitHub labs for hands-on experience. Also did some free practice assessments from the MS Learn platform, so I would recommend them. However, the questions in the practice assessment are nowhere near the level of detail and complexity that they have in the actual exam. So I would recommend to spend some time to focus on minor details and smaller services, such as DDoS protection and private endpoints. Now I booked the SC-100 exam, which is coming in 2 weeks. I should have plenty of time to study, so in particular, any special recommendations which I should focus on? submitted by /u/psvase [link] [comments]

  • Set up Azure SQL protected by Azure Firewall DNAT rules
by /u/SpecialistAd670 (Microsoft Azure) on April 26, 2024 at 9:55 am

Hi, I have a question. I want to set up Azure SQL with public access. I want to expose Azure SQL via Azure Firewall. Azure SQL is connected to the VNet through a private endpoint, and the NSG is set to allow everything through port 1433 to the SQL's private IP. I set up a DNAT rule on the Azure firewall to push my public IP to the FQDN of the SQL server on port 1433. When logging into MSSQL, I receive an error as shown on the screen. Is it not possible to completely disable public access to Azure SQL and make it available through Azure Firewall? Do we always need to have the "selected network" option enabled and configure firewall on SQL level? (edytowane) submitted by /u/SpecialistAd670 [link] [comments]
