IT professional for close to two decades and slow adopter of Azure. I work for a small company and we heavily leverage M365 and SharePoint and rarely do I have any need to use Azure for anything. I'm looking at using Azure Storage blob to host a static website (dashboard), and inject that link into a SharePoint site. Only problem is, that link, while convoluted, can be seen by the entire planet and I need to secure it somehow. Our users are completey remote and their IP addresses change due to being out in the field or their home ISP's DHCP leases possibly changing. So limiting access by IP address isn't really a good option. Having them VPN into the corp office network could be an option, but then I have to touch a few 100 laptops and that becomes another point of troubleshooting for obvious reasons and I don't want to find myself constantly troubleshooting VPN (user inflicted) problems. I was looking at Front Door/CDN with Private Link as an option, read the documentation, set it up, confirmed it working but it's still not private - and the private link bit is starting to look more like site-to-site link, not URL link and if that is the case, even if I manage to secure it, there is still the whole how do I give remote users access. If anything I made the website easier to stumble across though this endeavor. So I guess my question is this - is what I'm looking to do even possible? Users will not be accessing the webpage via a browser, but an imbedded link in a SharePoint site. Do to the nature of the Dashboard I have to use a URL (dashboard is generated as an interactive HTML page). Also worth mentioning, that there will be a power-automate flow that will auto update the dashboard with a new static index page (delete the old index, upload the new index). But before I start building that, I want to make sure there is a way I can secure this page from the entire planet seeing it, if that is even possible. Thanks in advance for any help. Getting some infrastructure up to start creating a playground website, I have need for a database but the catch is for now I'm trying to keep things as free/cheap as possible, with 'free Azure' theres apparently quota for a number of databases that are 'free' but whatever I use and a few regions theres no quota for them, what I've tried: CosmosDB, Azure SQL Database and MySQLon UK South, West Europe, North Europe, East US, East US2. So before I carry on testing everything, is there a better way to figure out whats good, as there doesn't seem to be all resources on the Quota screen? Hallo allemaal, Ik zoek wat advies. Ik werk in een platformteam en we willen een key vault maken voor de applicaties in onze ART. Nu rijst de vraag: moeten we één key vault per applicatie doen, of één gedeelde key vault per omgeving. De key vault wordt aangemaakt en beheerd door het platform (mijn) team, dus ik geef de voorkeur aan één key vault per omgeving. Dat is makkelijker te beheren voor ons, en de development teams kennen Azure niet echt, dus we willen het zo makkelijk mogelijk voor ze maken. Uiteraard moet de key vault zo geconfigureerd zijn dat teams geen toegang hebben tot elkaars geheimen. Is dit mogelijk? En kunnen de teams zelf secrets toevoegen aan de key vault, of moeten ze contact opnemen met het platformteam? Ik vraag dit omdat dit een situatie is die ik wil vermijden. Idealiter willen we één key vault per omgeving maken, een paar packages delen met de teams die de call naar de key vault doen, en de teams de vrijheid geven om zelf secrets toe te voegen in hun 'eigen ruimte' binnen de key vault. Kan iemand me wat advies geven hierover? Also how do i call this key vault without using secrets? So i dont want to have to use a secret to authenticate towards my key vault, how do i do this? I'm looking for guidance on the correct configuration of a site to site setup for my scenario. I have an on-prem Meraki MX68 with 2 Internet connections configured (WAN1 & WAN2) and would like to setup a site to site connection to an Azure VPN Gateway that utilizes both WAN circuits in a failover configuration. Meaning if WAN1 goes down, WAN2 will maintain the site to site connection to Azure. I have experience setting up a site to site VPN connection to Azure using 1 internet connection but with 2 connections it seems to get a bit more complicated. I'm looking for advice to confirm I'm on the right path. I have a VPN gateway (SKU VpnGw2AZ), 2 public IPs, in an active-active mode, BGP enabled. In the VPN gateway, 2 Local Network Gateways need to be configured, each with a separate WAN public IP from my Meraki MX. The VPN Gateway itself, two Connections must be created. I'll admit I'm having some issues understanding BGP and getting settings saved in Azure. Is there a better way to set this up? Or is it the right way? submitted by /u/zratedls1 [link] [comments]

Has anyone run into the issue where adding machines to the One Time Update in Azure Update manager doesn't add any machines. I have narrowed it down to an Azure Connected Machine Agent update that is causing this issue. There are two different updates for this from July. One of them says there are two machines and other 7 machines but when I click on the update the side bar that pops up has no machines. I’m 26 now, and 8 years ago I started studying economics at a good university in Brussels. Pretty quickly, I realized it just wasn’t for me. At the same time, I had always been interested in IT. My uncle, who was already working as a Data Engineer, introduced me to a side of tech I didn’t really know existed. Before that, I thought IT was mostly about websites, fixing computers or managing infrastructure. That’s when I discovered cloud computing, and more specifically Azure. I started learning everything by myself. First AZ-900, then a ridiculous amount of labs. I really tried to build things instead of just watching courses. Eventually I passed AZ-104. Four months later, I found an internship at Capgemini in Brussels. The internship went well, and I signed my first full-time contract. And two months ago, I started a new position at ING Belgium as a Cloud Big Data Engineer. I’m sharing this because a few years ago I had absolutely no idea where I was going. No CS degree, no perfect roadmap, nothing. Sometimes you don’t need to have your whole career figured out. You just need to find something that genuinely interests you and keep building, learning and showing up. A lot can change in a few years. I'm trying to understand something from people who've actually had to run security/compliance at a smaller company (roughly 20–500 employees). Enterprise companies have dedicated people for things like IAM, access governance, compliance, cloud security, vendor risk, security operations, etc. Smaller companies obviously can't have a specialist for every one of these. I'm curious what happens in practice. For example, do you have someone manually doing things like: Access reviews / employee permissions Offboarding users across multiple SaaS tools Checking privileged/admin accounts Collecting SOC 2 / ISO evidence Maintaining security controls Proving that a security issue was actually remediated Reviewing SaaS/OAuth access Cloud security/configuration checks Vendor security reviews Security questionnaires from enterprise customers Maintaining compliance evidence Tracking exceptions and approvals Something else entirely I'm especially interested in the things that technically have enterprise software available, but smaller companies still handle with spreadsheets, CSV exports, screenshots, scripts, or someone's memory. A few questions: What's the most annoying recurring security/compliance/IT process your company still does manually? How often does it happen — weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually? Who actually does it? What tools/spreadsheets/scripts do you use today? What happens if you don't do it properly or on time? Is someone external actually requiring you to do it (auditor, customer, regulator, insurer, procurement/security team), or is it something you do internally? Could you realistically satisfy the requirement with a spreadsheet + screenshots + manual work, or does that stop being sufficient at some point? Have you tried automating it? If so, what didn't work? Are there enterprise products that technically solve it but are too expensive/complex for your company? If you could eliminate one recurring security/compliance task from your job tomorrow, what would it be? I'm not looking for product recommendations or trying to sell anything. I'm trying to understand where smaller companies are essentially doing the work of an enterprise security team without the enterprise security team. VM Applications are a resource type in Azure Compute Gallery that provide a flexible way to manage and deploy applications across Azure VMs and Virtual Machine Scale Sets. The main benefit is that you can separate application installation from your base VM images. Instead of rebuilding and republishing an image every time an application changes, you can update the VM Application independently. This can significantly reduce image maintenance, speed up deployments, and make it easier to roll out application updates across your VMs and scale sets. I’m working on an RPA solution where I need to connect the automation flow with Azure services. The idea is roughly: Azure/Logic App → process incoming data/files → RPA automation → interact with a web application → store/update the result. I’m currently looking at Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Blob Storage, and Power Automate Desktop for the RPA side. What would be the best architecture for connecting the RPA flow with Azure? For example, should Azure trigger the RPA flow directly, should I use an API/Azure Function as a middle layer, or is there a better approach for production environments? Posting this because it cost us a day and I couldn't find it laid out anywhere in one place. Maybe can someone help us? (Also because English is not my native language I let AI formulate it better...) Setup: We have small client, 4 concurrent users, single session host in a AVD deployment (hostpool, agent, the works). Image is Windows Server 2025 Datacenter. They forgot about the CALs and the 120 day grace-period ended... So the thing is, we're Entra-joined with no AD DS and after searching MS docs, online etc we found: Per-User CALs write tracking data to the AD user object. No AD DS = no object. Microsoft's own docs say workgroup mode is Per-Device only. People report 60-minute session drops if you try anyway. And MS won't convert CAL types after purchase. Per-Device CALs work fine without a domain - but License Mobility to Azure is a Software Assurance benefit that applies to User CALs. Device CALs don't get it. So... the type that works technically can't legally go to Azure, and the type that can go to Azure doesn't work without a domain. There is no "just buy 4 CALs" path for the customer right? They can't move to multi-session, there's an ERP installed and configured on the box. The Question: Is there a way to(or what is the best way) to solve this cleanly on Entra-only? Options we see are stand up Entra Domain Services just to make Per-User CALs valid RDS User SLs via CSP, still needs a domain for tracking (with second small VM as DC), rebuild hosts on multi-session, keep ERP on server (High cost for second VM) Is there some other way we can achieve a Windows Server 2025 with RDP for 4 Users with correct licensing and without AD DS? submitted by /u/furiousITguy [link] [comments]
